FLURRY OF FRAUD IN

NEBRASKA

Fourteen city and village clerks across the state of Nebraska were charged this year with theft or violating public resources after a series of embezzlements over the past decade. The clerks, from 17 different small towns, stole an estimated $1.7 million combined, a recent state audit reported.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the state audit shows 158 towns in the Cornhusker State have gone more than 20 years without a full financial audit.

It is time elected leaders start being transparent with taxpayer money.
