The Omaha City Council authorized up to $17.5 million in tax increment financing (TIF) for casino development despite genuine public concerns about the project.

This project is moving forward even though the public has not had the opportunity to examine the economic feasibility of the subsidy. The City of Omaha has not released important details of the casino’s TIF application although the casino is projected to generate millions of dollars in revenue in short order. There shouldn't be any questions as to where Omaha taxpayers' money is going, let alone such flagrantly imprudent financial decisions.
UNFAIR
City councilmembers are disregarding taxpayers' concerns over the project.
AVARICIOUS
Tax subsidies necessitated construction, despite the casino quickly making plenty of revenue.
EXPENSIVE
The city is handing over $17.5 million in unnecessary tax increment financing provisions.
OPAQUE
Omaha leaders won’t provide citizens with vital documents of the casino’s TIF application.
